There is little more risk in online shopping than shopping in brick and mortar stores. The first rule wherever you make your purchase, is to feel comfortable with the business. You have to get the feeling that this is a place where you would like to do your shopping.

This will tell you that the personal information is going over secure lines. It is called Secured Sockets Layer (SSL).

A problem that can arise from online shopping is that if a mistake is made by either you or the business, the item must be returned. This entails a visit to the Post Office. If you decide to return the item because you no longer want it, shipping charges will be paid by you.

You will cut down any risk of a business not delivering what is promised by paying with a credit card or PayPal. This will ensure a just resolution of the problem. Sending checks to online stores is not a good option. Also, beware of stores that do not add the shipping until you have already committed to the purchase.
